Palmer Wins Theta Beta’s Woman Of The Year Award
SHERMAN – Theta Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi held its annual Founder’s Day celebration at Sherman’s Inn On Main bed and breakfast, on Thursday, April 24.
Nancy Palmer, president, presided over the business meeting.
Rose Van Volkenburg presented the program, “Starting Your Own Home Based Business,” focusing on bed and breakfast establishments.
The Inn On Main in Sherman is one of the early historic residences in this area.
It was built in 1840 by Elijah Miller, the head of one of the first 12 families in Sherman.
Originally a lovely country home and part of a farm that covered most of what is now the center of Sherman, this farm home was owned and worked by three generations of Millers before being sold in 1992 to become a bed and breakfast.
The inn underwent extensive, meticulous, loving renovations in 2012 and opened, under new owners, in mid-2013 as Sherman’s Inn On Main. Georgeanna Peck, innkeeper, served a home cooked meal.
Last year’s recipient, Joyce Anderson, presented the “Woman of the Year” award to Nancy Palmer. Selection for this honor is decided by the membership, choosing the individual that best exemplifies the ideals and beliefs of the sorority.
The sorority will meet on Wednesday, May 7, at the home of Sandy Zenns.
