Cole Shines On Mound In Sherman Win Over Panama

PANAMA-Sherman picked up a Division 2 West baseball win on the road Monday courtesy of a 2-1 victory over Panama behind pitcher Jeremy Cole.

Cole fanned 14 with no walks and one earned run in picking up the win.

Leading Panama on the mound was Eric Schutt, who notched 12 strikeouts, four walks, and one earned run in his complete-game performance.

The Wildcats notched their winning run in the seventh inning when Kyle Carpenter scored on an error.

Both teams totaled six hits in the game.

For Sherman, Carpenter was 2 for 3 while Ryan Myers picked up the Wildcats’ first run in the second inning with an RBI single.

Schutte ended the day 2 for 2 while Nolan Egleston drove in the Panthers’ only run with an RBI single.


CLYMER – Brocton’s Ryan Johnson tossed a complete game as the Bulldogs topped host Clymer, 4-1.

Johnson racked up 11 strikeouts with no walks, surrendered five hits and only one earned run in getting the win and helped his own cause with two hits and two runs scored.

Brocton held a 2-1 lead in the fourth and Clymer tried to squeeze home a runner from third, but the attempt failed.

Also for the winners, Dalton Remington produced two hits and scored a run and Devon Walter had two hits and two RBIs.

For the Pirates (1-3), Mitch Einink got the loss, going five innings striking out five with two walks. Andrew Heil followed in relief and gave up two runs on three hits.

Evan Woods connected for a double and single with one RBI and Jake Wiggers had two hits for Clymer.
