Dragons Shut Out Falconer Behind Stack’s Five-Hitter

FALCONER – Maple Grove (1-3, 4-6) scored a pair of runs in the second and that’s all the Red Dragons would need as they shut out host Falconer, 2-0, in Division 1 West baseball.

Cass Howard had an RBI fielder’s choice in the second that scored Graham Nelson and later, Howard scored after a single by Cory Wefing and an error by the right fielder.

The winning pitcher was Collin Stack, who pitched a five-hitter with five strikeouts and two walks to earn his complete game win. Wefing led the offense with two hits.

For the Golden Falcons (2-3, 4-3), Mike Wilcox got the loss, going the distance while also throwing a five-hitter with 10 strikeouts and two walks. Jim Schwab also doubled.

FREDONIA BLANKS BEARS

FREDONIA – Cam Voss threw a complete-game, one-hit shutout to propel the Fredonia Hillbillies to a 8-0 victory over the Frewsburg Bears.

Voss also had a big day the plate with two hits, including a triple, while Mike Pucci (double) and Luke Voss added two hits in the win.

Jared Burmaster contributed a double and three runs for Fredonia.

Frewsburg’s only hit of the day came from Trevor Spicer, who led off the fifth inning with a double.
