JPS Board Election Petitions Due Thursday

As a reminder, petitions for the Jamestown Board of Education Election on May 20 are due back to the Superintendent’s Office, Jamestown City School District, 197 Martin Road, Jamestown, by 5 p.m. on Thursday. Candidates must submit a completed petition containing the names of 100 or more qualified voters within the school district. There are three open JPS board seats, each for a three-year term, beginning July 1.

If a person is not registered to vote, but wants to vote in the May 20 school election, Jamestown Public School’s registration day will be held on Thursday from noon-6 p.m. in the Administration Building, 197 Martin Road. Non-registered voters should present themselves, in person, before the JPS District Clerk with proof of identity and proof of address on Thursday in order to be entitled to vote on May 20.

Applications are also available for absentee voting. The application forms and instructions may be obtained in the Superintendent’s Office up to and including Monday, May 19. (You can cast your ballot and hand it right back in.) Absentee ballots must be received in person or by mail by 5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20. The 2014-15 budget will be available for public review in the Superintendent’s Office or on the JPS website (www.jamestownpublicschools.org) under the button on the home page “2014-15 Budget Information” beginning on Friday.
