Area Police Reports


CHAUTAUQUA – Raymond A. Gates, 28, of Chautauqua was charged Wednesday with fugitive from justice. At approximately 8:09 p.m., Gates was taken into custody on Potter Road. Gates was wanted by Erie County, Pa. for a probation violation. He was arraigned in Chautauqua Court and remanded to the county jail, awaiting extradition from Erie County.


Richard G. Raynor, 22, and Brandon M. Doud, 21, both of Jamestown were charged with second-degree obstructing governmental administration. At approximately 2:30 a.m., police observed two male subjects walking in the area of Catlin and Fairmount avenues. They were carrying flashlights and looking into parked cars. When officers attempted to perform a street check, they fled on foot. Both subjects were apprehended after a brief foot pursuit and transported to the city jail. They are currently awaiting arraignment.


Patrick A. Purpera, 59, of Jamestown was charged Tuesday with petit larceny and criminal mischief after he was observed taking merchandise from Wal-Mart without paying for it. He will appear in Busti Court at a later date.


A 14-year-old juvenile, of West Ellicott, was charged Wednesday with third-degree assault. At approximately 5:50 p.m., police were dispatched to a West Ellicott residence for a report of a domestic dispute between two juvenile brothers. Investigation found that the 14-year-old punched his 13-year-old brother in the face numerous times, causing him to sustain a swollen black and blue eye. The 14-year-old will appear in Family Court at a later date.

Roger D. Markham, 30, of Falconer was charged Wednesday with second-degree harassment. A female victim told police that Markham allegedly got into an altercation with her, shoving her down the stairs. Markham will appear in Ellicott Court at a later date.


OLEAN – Lennard C. Everitt, 52, of Olean was charged Tuesday with fourth-degree stalking, second-degree criminal contempt and violation of probation. Everitt was taken into custody after failing to meet the requirements for his probation. He was remanded to county jail in lieu of $500 bail. He will appear in Allegany Court on May 12 at 3 p.m.

OLEAN – Jonathan D. Darcy, 29, of Olean was charged Tuesday with a Family Court violation. At approximately 9:15 p.m., Darcy was taken into custody on a warrant for a violation of Family Court. He was remanded to the county jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

SALAMANCA – John H. Lobaugh, 36, of Kenmore was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, failure to use designated lane and operating out of class. The charges came after a traffic stop on Route 353 just before 9 p.m. He was taken into custody, arraigned in Salamanca Court and transported to the county jail where he is being held on $1,000 bail. He will appear in Salamanca Court at a later date.


ELLICOTT – David W. Swanson, 47, of Jamestown was charged Tuesday with driving while intoxicated after a traffic stop on Route 60 for failing to dim his headlights. Troopers detected an odor of alcohol and after field sobriety tests placed Swanson under arrest for DWI. He was transported to the state police barracks in Jamestown where a blood alcohol content of .09 was obtained. He was issued an appearance ticket and will appear in Ellicott Court at a later date. She was released to a third party.
