Healthy Kids Day At YMCA Saturday

To kick-start physical activity and learning now and throughout the summer – a critical out-of-school time for kids – on Saturday, the Jamestown YMCA is celebrating Healthy Kids Day with a free community event for kids and families.

YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day, the Y’s national initiative to improve families’ health and well-being, features games, contests, giveaways, activities and more to motivate and teach families how to develop a healthy routine at home.

Joining the YMCA for Healthy Kids Day are: Bob Evans, CASAC, Chautauqua County Early Intervention, Chautauqua Striders, Chautauqua Tapestry, Cornell Cooperative Extension, Five Star Urgent Care, Girl Scouts, Infinity, James Prendergast Library, Jamestown Audubon, Jamestown Savings Bank Arena, Morton Club, Nutrition Zone, Salvation Army, TJ Maxx, WIC and more.

The YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day will focus on health and education to ensure fewer children are at an increased risk for childhood obesity and more children succeed in school. During summer, research shows that kids are more likely to gain weight and fall behind academically than during the school year. Healthy Kids Day is not just a single day of fun, active play and learning – it’s a kick off to helping parents get a jump on creating a healthier summer.

The Jamestown YMCA’s Healthy Kids Day event takes place at the YMCA’s 101 E. Fourth St. location from 1-3 p.m. For more information, contact Gina Bloomquist at 664-2802 ext. 222 or visit www.jamestownymca.org.
