Foote Avenue Fire

An Easter evening fire destroyed a garage at Foote and Newland avenues in the city.

At 7:40 p.m. Sunday, the garage caught fire, and within five minutes, was completely engulfed in flames.

Firefighters spent 15 minutes fighting flames at the vacant building. While the garage was completely gutted, surrounding buildings were unharmed by the fire.

According to Bruce Sheldon, Jamestown Fire Department lieutenant, the owner said nothing of major value was stored in the garage.

Off-shift firefighters were called to the scene, along with fire investigators.

The cause of the fire is being investigated.

The Jamestown Fire Department was assisted by the Jamestown Police Department and Alstar Ambulance.
