Lifeguarding Classes Scheduled To Begin

The Jamestown YMCA has scheduled the first of its two American Red Cross waterfront lifeguarding classes from April 27 through May 25.

The class on the first day runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. All other classes run from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

On the first hour on April 27, there will be a water pre-test. All candidates must successfully complete this to continue in the class.

Candidates who fail to pass the pre-test, will be refunded their class fees minus a $20 processing fee.

Class size is limited and pre-registration is encouraged. The cost is $235 for YMCA members and $285 for potential members. Fees include materials and certification.

Those completing the course are certified in American Red Cross waterfront lifeguarding 2012, first aid, CPR-PR and AED.

Students must be at least 15 years old by the final day of the class.
