Westfield/Mayville Rotary Plans Auction
The Westfield/Mayville Rotary Club’s annual auction will be held Saturday, May 10 in Eason Hall in Westfield, announced by Tom Berkhouse, chairman.
Auctioneer David Brown will once again conduct the live auction, which will follow auction-item browsing and dinner. Chicken will be barbecued outside by Chiavetta’s staff with Rotarians inside serving dinner with the accoutrements and dessert. Also available will be free beer, soft drinks and coffee.
After the auction, drawings will be held for $500 cash prize and a 50/50 wine drawing, which means anyone can win 40 or more selections of wine.
In addition, a non-Rotarian community member within the club’s constituency will be awarded a Paul Harris Fellow recognition for service to his/her community. This is worldwide Rotary’s highest award.
Berkhouse invites all businesses and private citizens to donate items to be sold at the auction. Through the years, many different items have been contributed to this worthy cause.
“Think of it this way,” he said. “You might have something you no longer use and that ‘something’ just may be what someone else has been looking for or would like to use. And, it’s contributing to service.”
Doors will open just before 5 p.m. and dinner will be served until 6 p.m. when the live auction will begin. All donated items should be “almost like new” and worth a suitable bid. Anyone who would like to contribute an item should contact Berkhouse at 326-4507 or 397-9337.
