JPD Seeks Public’s Help In Solving Alleged Hit-And-Run Accident

The Jamestown Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance solving an alleged hit and run which occurred Saturday morning at 1 a.m.

Police say a white pickup truck and a white Pontiac G6 were both traveling westbound on Newland Avenue between Hallock Street and Cityview Avenue when the truck attempted to pass the Pontiac.

The victim of the hit and run was traveling eastbound on Newland Avenue in a 2004 blue Chevrolet Cavalier when the truck approached in the same lane. The victim was forced to jump the curb onto the terrace and the truck struck the Cavalier on the driver’s side behind the driver’s door, spinning the Cavalier around. The car was totaled in the accident

Police say the truck was either passing or racing the G6, both of which are illegal.
