David Martin Crytzer

David was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Natrona Heights, Pa., the son of the late Gerald and Irene Mizer Crytzer.

He graduated Har-Brack High School in 1957, earned his bachelor’s degree in education at Slippery Rock University and his master’s degrees in English and counseling at Indiana University of Pennsylvania.

Dave is survived by his loving wife of more than 45 years, Sue Ann Coll Crytzer of Surfside Beach, S.C.; daughter, Jessica Sue Crytzer of Lexington, Ky.; son, Daniel Martin Crytzer of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; brothers: Paul Crytzer and Joel Crytzer; and sisters: Janet Ackerman and Anita Lloyd.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his brothers: Richard Crytzer and Layton “Rusty” Crytzer; and sister, Joanne Elkin.

Dave involved himself in numerous fields throughout his professional life. He worked as a high school teacher in his early years but spent the majority of his career as director of financial aid at Jamestown Community College in Jamestown, N.Y. Upon retiring from Jamestown Community College, Dave pursued a degree in nursing and began his tenure at WCA Hospital, where he worked primarily as a mental health counselor for most of his 15 years at the the hospital’s Jones Hill facility, before relocating to Surfside Beach, S.C. with his wife, Sue in 2000, where he continued to work and volunteer in public education for another 10 years.
