City Man Stabbed During Break-In

A Jamestown man was stabbed in the chest early Friday morning after another Jamestown man broke into his apartment.

The victim – whose name was not released – was reportedly sleeping inside his second-floor apartment at 246 Willard St. when, according to a police report, Lawrence L. White, 39, of Jamestown – forcibly entered the apartment and stabbed the person in the chest.

The victim was sent to WCA Hospital and later to UPMC Hamot in Erie, Pa., for his injuries.

According to Captain Robert F. Samuelson, division commander of the Jamestown Police Department, the victim and White were not acquaintances.

Jamestown Police dispatched to the scene at 2:30 a.m. and found White after he had fled the apartment.

White was charged with second-degree burglary and second-degree assault.

He was taken to the city jail and awaiting arraignment.
