Clymer Tops Panama Behind Einink’s Three-Hit Pitching

PANAMA – Behind the pitching of Mitch Einink, Clymer opened its Division 2 West baseball season with a big win on Thursday.

Einink tossed a three-hitter with six strikeouts and two walks as the Pirates downed Panama (0-3), 22-0, in a game called after six innings.

Jake Wiggers drove in three runs with a triple and single, Andrew Heil connected for three RBIs with a double and a single, and Adam Honey added two hits for the Pirates, who broke it open with a five-run second inning.

Eric Schutt had a double, Dan Odell and Rick Eddy singles for Panama.


MAYVILLE -Westfield’s Robbie Burgess struck out seven and walked two in six innings of work as the Wolverines remained undefeated (3-0, 4-0) with an 8-6 victory over Chautauqua Lake.

Offensively, Burgess led the winners with two doubles and Tanner Dahl added a pair of hits.

Brandon Johnson finished things up for Burgess, surrendering two runs with two strikeouts and three walks.

The Thunderbirds (1-1, 2-1) gave up five runs over the first three innings on three errors and eight walks.

Braydyn Wappat started and got the loss. He was followed by Kyle Mayer, who struck out four and walked four over the final four innings.

Wappat had a double in the loss and Meyer and Tyler Furlow each had two hits with Furlow slapping a double.
