Melanie J. Yannie

Melanie J. Yannie, 55, of Jamestown, N.Y. passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, April 5, 2014, at WCA Hospital.

Melanie was born in Jamestown, N.Y., on Feb. 11, 1959, the daughter of John and Onalee Yannie.

Melanie was known for her baking, and all the delicious desserts that she loved to make for everyone. She spent many years as a caterer. She owned and operated The Village Tea Room in Randolph, N.Y. Melanie was an events coordinator and was well-known for her hard work and dedication to make any event one to remember. She made sure the brides she worked with had their dream wedding and reception. She had a great eye for detail. She loved to entertain and spend time with family and friends.

Melanie was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses on Jan. 19, 1975 and associated with the South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She was a lifelong area resident, and graduated from Falconer High School in 1977.

She is survived by her sister, Shirley Mattern (Mike) of Jamestown Melanie also has a brother. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews including: Jennifer (Alex) Whitfield of Chandler, Ariz., Amy (David) Pillittieri and their children: Liam and Vanessa of Jamestown, and Jacob (Shannan) Mattern and their children: Keira, Katie and Madelline also of Jamestown.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Yannie on May 12, 1987, and her mother, Onalee Morey Yannie on March 5, 2014.

On April 19 at 2 p.m. a joint memorial service will be held at the South Jamestown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses, located at 181 Martin Road, for Onalee and Melanie. Tom Pacos from Dunkirk will be officiating.
