Area Police Reports


Robert F. Majak, 50, of Jamestown was charged Tuesday with petit larceny. At approximately 1 a.m., police went to the CVS store in Brooklyn Square for a reported shoplifting. Majak reportedly stole a 30-pack of beer. He was located at his residence and taken into custody. He is awaiting arraignment at the city jail.

Samantha J. Ellsworth, 18, of Jamestown was charged Tuesday with petit larceny. At approximately 3:30 p.m., officers were dispatched to 708 E. Second St. in response to a shoplifting incident that occurred Monday at 6:20 p.m. Employees stated that a female stole $23.25 worth of merchandise and observed this on video camera. When the female returned to the store Tuesday, employees called the police. Ellsworth was transported to city jail.


James A. Bellomo, 36, of Jamestown was charged Sunday with criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance. At approximately 4 p.m., police dispatched to Wal-Mart for a suspicious male subject possibly attempting to pass a bad check. While officers were en route, the suspect fled toward the Chautauqua Mall. He was located hiding behind some bushes along the OfficeMax. Officers found what appeared to be an orange cap of a hypodermic instrument in his pocket. Since he had no medical reason to have this instrument, he was taken into custody and properly searched. A small quantity of heroin was found during the search. Bellomo was arraigned in Busti Court and taken to the Chautauqua County Jail.


COLDSPRING – Scott F. Irvin, 54, of Coldspring was charged Sunday with third-degree criminal mischief, resisting and second-degree harassment. At approximately 6:15 p.m., deputies dispatched to a domestic dispute in which Irvin allegedly shoved his girlfriend and broke the window of her vehicle. He resisted deputies while being taken into custody. Irvin was arraigned at Coldspring Court and transported to county jail where he is being held on $5,000 bail.

PORTVILLE – John M. Barber, 27, of Portville was charged Sunday with third-degree unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. At approximately 4:30 a.m., Barber allegedly took the victim’s vehicle without permission to go to a bar. He is scheduled to appear in Portville Court at a later date.


DUNKIRK – Dierra Leber, 17, was charged Sunday with unlawful possession of marijuana after Fredonia State Troopers stopped her vehicle on Route 5 for having a headlight out. While interviewing Leber, a strong odor of marijuana was detected emanating from the vehicle. A gram of marijuana was located in the vehicle. Leber was issued an appearance ticket returnable to Dunkirk Court on April 28.
