Linda D. Hayes

Linda D. Hayes, 61, of Findley Lake, N.Y., died Monday, April 7, 2014, in her home with her family by her side. She was born in Corry, Pa., on Sept. 3, 1952, a daughter of June Perdue Hazen and the late Merle E. Hazen.

Linda was a 1970 graduate of Clymer Central School. She graduated from Bryant and Stratton College in 1972 with an associate degree as a medical secretary. She worked at WCA Hospital as a patient account representative for 25 years.

She enjoyed gardening, traveling, collecting coins, and spending time with her family and nine grandchildren. She took the master gardening program at Penn State Behrend.

In addition to her father, Linda was preceded in death by her sister, Sharon Chapman; mother-in-law, Wanita Hayes; father-in-law, Neal Hayes; and her brother-in-law, James Lenart.

Besides her mother, she will be dearly missed by her husband of 41 years, Alan D. Hayes; and her four children: Tracy Hammond and her husband. Timothy of Mayville, N.Y., Amy Bemis and her husband, Timothy of Chapman, Kan., Jody Hay and her husband, Jeffrey Hay of Fort Leavenworth, Kan., and Trevor Hayes of New Iberia, La. She will be sadly missed by her nine grandchildren: Nathan and Cody Hammond, Kylee, Andrew and Alex Bemis, Shelby and Adyn Hay and Brayden and Jaxson Hayes.

She is also survived by her brother, Steve Hazen (Deana) of Fredonia, N.Y.; and sisters: Tina Winslow (Mark) of Westfield, N.Y., and Rita Lenart of Panama, N.Y. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Spitzer Funeral Home in Sherman, N.Y., on Thursday, April 10, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.

The funeral service will be held on Friday, April 11, at 11 a.m., at the Findley Lake United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Cooke, pastor of the church, officiating and her nephew, Joshua Hayes, a staff member of the Coalition for Christian Outreach Campus.

Burial will be in Mina Cemetery.
