Harmon Taken Into Custody

A second city man was taken into custody Saturday in connection with multiple armed robberies last week.

Dennis J. Harmon, 29, was apprehended after police sent out a call to local law enforcement agencies to be on the lookout for a tan SUV in which Harmon was believed to be riding.

Harmon was named as a person of interest Friday in the investigation of an armed robbery at the CVS on South Main Street that occurred March 26.

Thomas E. Lawson, 23, of Jamestown was charged Thursday with two counts of first-degree armed robbery for his involvement in the armed robberies at the North Main Street 7-Eleven on March 24 and the South Main Street CVS.

A third robbery that occurred at the East Second Street 7-Eleven on April 1 is not believed to be connected with the other two robberies, police said. The suspect in the April 1 robbery is still at large, and is described as a 6-foot to 6-foot-2-inch black man with a thin build.

The investigation into the robberies is continuing. Anyone with additional information is asked to call the JPD at 483-7537 or the department’s anonymous tip line 483-TIPS (8477). All calls will be kept confidential.
