Courtney’s Arm, Bat Lead Falconer Girls To Victory

FALCONER – Thanks to the pitching and hitting of Abby Courtney, Falconer was able to come out with a rain-shortened victory over Cassadaga Valley.

Courtney tossed a 10-strikeout, one-walk, one-hitter and drove in four runs, including two with a triple, as the Lady Golden Falcons (2-0) blanked CV, 11-0, in a game called after 4 innings.

Kaylei Russell had a three-run triple and Katie Hines drilled a double and a single for Falconer.

The lone hit for Cassadaga Valley was a third-inning single by Olivia Ruiz.

WESTFIELD -”She pitched a beautiful game and the defense played just as well,” said Westfield coach Dave Luder about the performance of Carson Hauser.

Hauser hurled a five-hitter while allowing just one earned run with three walks as Westfield (1-0, 2-0) downed Pine Valley, 5-2.

The Lady Wolverines scored a run in each of the first five innings and Kathryn Catalano led the way with three hits and two RBIs. Hauser helped herself with two hits.

Cameron Abbey-Mott also stroked two hits and designated runner Emily Poletto stole three bases and scored three times in the win.

Jamie Wilcox cracked a solo home run for Pine Valley in the fourth inning preceded by Westfield turning over a double play.

Cassie Tingue connected for two hits in the loss.
