Wild Pitch Leads To CLCS Victory

RIPLEY – A wild pitch on ball four to Bryce Rowe enabled the winning run to score with two outs in the seventh inning as Chautauqua Lake began the baseball season by edging Randolph (1-1), 5-4, in a non-leaguer on Tuesday.

Cody Sargent had two singles and Tyler Meredith a two-run triple to support winning pitcher Ian Clute.

Starting pitching Braydyn Wappat pitched three scoreless innings followed by Kyle Mayer for three more innings in which he gave up three runs against Randolph. Wappat fanned five while Mayer and Clute each had two strikeouts with Wappat walking only one.

Andrew Hvizdzak started for Randolph and went three innings and recorded four strikeouts. Mitch Maycock fanned five in suffering a tough-luck loss.

Nick Hettenbaugh plated two Randolph runs on two hits while teammates Christian Giambrone and Maycock also had two hits.
