Fenton Pizza Challenge Winners Announced
The Fenton History Center held the first Slice of History Pizza Challenge on Saturday, March 29. Eleven pizza vendors were on hand to share their pies with over 100 voters. With full plates and smiles on their faces, the voters worked hard at determining what slice was the tastiest. Buzzetto’s Real New York Style Pizza, 180 Fluvanna Ave., Jamestown, had the most votes as the Fenton Fan Favorite pizza. A close second was Vinney’s Pizza, 792 E. Second St., Jamestown. Both pizza shops are new to the area. Buzzetto’s will be relocating to the former Yum Yum’s building on Fairmount Avenue near Sam’s Club.
The day also focused on Jamestown’s rich Italian heritage. Fenton History Center staff members were ready to take down genealogy information and scan family photos. Fenton History Center member Vince Joy was on hand to record family stories visitors were willing to share. Fenton board of trustee President Rick Lundquist remarked, “The day was a great success. We set out to raise funds to support our local history education programs, collect important Italian family information and have fun, which we did. Thank you to all the voters, volunteers and the pizza shops that gave so freely of their pizza.”
