Myers Library Sets Activities

FREWSBURG – For the Big Read of the poetry of Emily Dickinson, Myers Memorial Library has three activities planned in April. The first is today’s discussion of her works at 6:30 p.m. at the library. There will be refreshments served. A two-part workshop will be held on pressing and drying flowers. The first workshop will be Wednesday, April 9, at 6:30 p.m., also in the community room. At this workshop participants will be learning and doing some of the methods used for drying and pressing. Then on Wednesday, May 14, at 6:30, participants will be using their dried and/or pressed flowers for a small project. Participants are requested to bring an old telephone book and small covered box to the first workshop. Feel free to bring some flowers; the fresher the better. The library is located at the corner of Falconer Street and Ivory Street in Frewsburg. The Ivory Street entrance is handicap accessible. For more information, call the library at 569-5515.

Historical Society To Hold Meeting

RANDOLPH – The Randolph Historical Society will meet Wednesday at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building. The speaker for the evening will be Dan Martonis. His program will be on Geographic Information System and will pertain to mapping projects that he has completed throughout Cattaraugus County. Some projects that will be included in this program will be: the Little (New) Ireland within Allegany State Park, Amish Trails, cataloging and georeferencing cemeteries, examples using historical data to help in today’s mapping and others. The public is invited to attend.

Kasting To Serve As Speaker

Bob Kasting, pastor of the Tree Of Life Lutheran Community of Jamestown, will be the Lenten speaker Wednesday at noon at the First Lutheran Church, Jamestown. His topic will be “Change of Heart.” Lunch will follow in the parlors of the church on Chandler Street.

Coldspring Board To Meet Thursday

STEAMBURG – The Coldspring Town Board met March 13 for their regular meeting. The next meeting will be Thursday. A motion was made for the highway department to purchase a wire feed welder. Assessor Roxanne Aucoin reported to the town board about work completed for the year 2013. New hours for the assessors are Thursday evening from 6:30-9 p.m. The town clerk’s books were reviewed by the town board. She presented to them her checkbook, cash receipts book, cash receipts ledger, monthly reports with annual report and a spiral cash receipts ledger. The books were signed and dated. Justice Jerrold Roosa and Dog Control Officer Kirk Hayes will give their annual reports at Thursday’s meeting.

‘Noah’ Talk To Be Held Saturday

“Straightening Out what Hollywood Misrepresented about Noah” will be presented at the Jamestown Prendergast Library on Saturday at 10:30 a.m. Led by Pastor Mel McGinnis of the Kiantone Congregational Church, the presentation will include a side-by-side analysis of what the Bible says vs. what Hollywood made. Also featured at the presentation will be a short film produced by Ray Comfort called “Noah – And the Last Days.” The same presentation will also be held at the Kiantone Congregational Church on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome to attend.
