PANAMA – The Harmony Seniors met on March 6 for their monthly meeting. Rosalie Logue, vice president, welcomed all in attendance and read a poem about St. Patrick’s Day. Melvin Lord, chaplain, led the salute to the flag and gave the dinner prayer.
Eloise Smith read the poem “Over the Hill.” Birthdays were celebrated by: Martha Chapman, eldest in attendance, Ellen Coffaro, Chuck Ellis, Martha Gleason, Kristy Dailey, Carl Martin, Cherry Potter, Wendie Raynor and Janet Walker. Anniversaries were celebrated by Cindy and Keith Miller and Kristy Dailey and spouse.
Sandy Hoyt, treasurer, reported an end of February balance of $1,481.73. The secretary’s report was read and approved with the following corrections: the cost for the April meeting luncheon is $5, not $6 as previously reported, and Delores Lindstrom and Nancy Wymer served on the food committee for the March meeting.
The purchase of a new coffee maker was approved, if it is determined that the current one cannot be fixed. Sign up sheets were available for the 2014 trips.
All seniors were invited to the Panama Central School musical, “The Music Man,” which was held on March 20. Members were reminded that the Panama Central School class of 2014 will be holding a rummage sale on April 4-5 at the Lakewood Busti Recreation Hall in Lakewood. Donations are appreciated.
Chester Stratton and Harriett Smith were welcomed as new members.
The next meeting will be held on Thursday at noon in the Panama United Methodist Church. A fundraiser luncheon will be provided by Sally Hagg. The cost is $5 and reservations are required. Phone Sandy Hoyt at 782-2483. The officers will serve on the food committee.
