Ben Swanson of the Jamestown rifle team fired a perfect 400, leading his team to a second-place finish in the Western Division of the Vermont Winter Postal League.

It was the first time a competitor has fired a perfect 400 this season and only the fourth time in league history.

The team finished third overall, just one point ahead of Whitehall (1,573-1,572).

The team’s other shooters were David Allen 393, Clayton Hanson 392 and Todd Hanson 388.

Clayton Hanson (393.5) has the 10th-highest average and Swanson (392.75) is ranked 12th, in a league of more than 100 shooters.

Clayton Hanson, Swanson and Andre Delcalzo were all named to the league’s junior all-star team. Allen and Swanson were both named to the open all-star team.
