Bridge League Names Winners

Pat Fincher and Bill Kuppinger were the first place winners at the March 20 regular weekly game of the Jamestown Area Bridge League. Candy Larson and Brenda Hagadorn took second place. The league plays on Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. at Comfort Today, 17 Gifford Ave., West Ellicott. There is ample parking in the Tanglewood lot across the street. The league is ACBL sanctioned and points awarded, but ACBL membership is not required. All bridge players are welcome. For more information, phone 386-2301.

Heinz To Preach On Wednesday

Charlie Heinz will preach at the midweek Lenten services held at First Presbyterian Church on Wednesday at noon. The service will be held in Bellinger Chapel with lunch to follow in the fellowship hall. This year’s series of sermons is on “Faith Journeys.”

Erlich To Speak Wednesday

Lenten services continue at First Lutheran Church on Chandler Street Jamestown. On Wednesday, the speaker will be Pastor Becca Erlich from Zion Lutheran in Frewsburg. Her topic will be “Change of Circumstances.” A luncheon will follow the worship service in the Parlors of the church.

Driving Course Begins Wednesday

The East Randolph United Methodist Church will be hosting an AARP Smart Driver Class on Wednesday and Friday from 6:30-9:30 p.m. Classes will be meet in the fellowship hall at 122 Church St. in East Randolph. The cost is $20 for AARP members and $25 for nonmembers. Drivers of all ages are encouraged to attend. Al Ormond will be the instructor. Course participants may be eligible to receive a discount on their auto insurance premium and a reduction of up to four points on their driving record. After-Prom Group To Meet April 25

FALCONER – A Falconer After-Prom meeting is scheduled for April 25 at 6:30 p.m. in the eighth-grade project room. The committee is in need of parents’ help for the party. To Meet Friday

LAKEWOOD – The March meeting of the Chautauqua County American Legion will be on Friday at the Lakewood Memorial Post 1286 starting at 7:30. All legionnaires are urged to attend.

Women’s Club Invited To Meeting

ELMA – Members of Chautauqua women’s clubs who belong to the Western New York Federation of Women’s Clubs are invited to the annual Single Subject meeting on Saturday at the columns, Alton’s Banquet Hall, 2221 Transit Road, Elma. Registration is at 9:30 a.m. to be followed by a business meeting and then presentation of a suggested topic for 2014-15 programs before a luncheon. Board members will give an interactive discussion at each table with preliminary information about our “Founding Mothers” such as Martha Washington, Elizabeth Cady Stanton, and Sacajawea among others with plenty of take home materials.
