A 17-year-old Australian pop star, Cody Simpson, is set to perform during the Jamestown Savings Bank Arena’s third-annual Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular in December.

The nationally televised show is set to feature a variety of world-class athletes, gold-medal Olympians, gymnasts and celebrity musical guests, including Simpson. The full lineup will be announced at a later date.

According to Phil Genco, communication specialist for the JSBA, it’s a huge feather in the arena’s cap to have such a unique event as part of its annual schedule.

“World-class athletes and entertainers performing in our arena is awesome, and the opportunity to provide our community with the caliber of entertainment that Disson Skating brings to the table doesn’t come along very often,” Genco said. “This event will showcase Chautauqua County in front of millions of viewers when the event is taped and aired on ABC national television.”

Genco is also quite excited for the opportunity to present Simpson, who in addition to having toured with Justin Bieber during his “Believe” tour, is featured on the current season of “Dancing With The Stars.”

“Simpson is a huge pop star, and whenever someone with his kind of following – almost seven million fans on both Facebook and Twitter – comes to our arena, it legitimizes what we are doing here,” Genco said. “We pride ourselves in offering top-notch entertainment to this community at a reasonable price. We also strive to bring visitors in from out of the area for our shows, fill up the hotels and see what else Jamestown has to offer during their stay. With a performer as popular as Cody, it makes our jobs easier in accomplishing those goals.”

Although the arena cannot announce the rest of the lineup, Genco said there’s quite a bit to be excited about.

“The rest of the lineup will not disappoint,” Genco said. “Over the past two years we have seen some unbelievable talent come through Jamestown as part of the Skating and Gymnastics Spectacular. So, we know there will be something to appeal to all ages with past Olympians hosting the event, current world and Olympic champions performing along with musical acts that the younger generation can enjoy. This isn’t the last of our announcements, so make sure to look for news of more talent being added soon.”
