Lakewood Legion To Host Events

LAKEWOOD – Lakewood Legion Post 1286 at 174 Chautauqua Ave., Lakewood will be hosting Mark Mincarelli from 6-9 p.m. today. A St. Patrick’s Day party on Sunday will feature Rustic Ramblers playing from 4-8 p.m. The kitchen will be open from 3-7 p.m. Dinner specials are corned beef and cabbage and prime rib. Members and guests are welcome; please sign in.

Almost Spring Concert Is Sunday

SILVER CREEK – The Chautauqua Children’s Chorale, under the direction of Marjorie Bohn, is set to hold its annual Almost Spring Concert on Sunday at Silver Creek High School. The concert begins at 4 p.m. and will feature both Junior and Concert Chorale groups. These talented young singers range in age from 9 to 18 and come from all corners of Chautauqua County. Admission is free, but a freewill donation will be collected to benefit Habitat for Humanity.

Driving Course Begins March 24

FREWSBURG – A five-hour pre-licensing driving course will be held at Frewsburg High School on March 24-25, from 6-8:30 p.m. The cost is $25. Preregister by calling the guidance office at 569-7026 between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Library Group To Meet Tuesday

LAKEWOOD – The Lakewood Memorial Library Book Group will meet on Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. to discuss “The Fever Tree” by Jennifer McVeigh, a compelling novel about colonial South Africa. The group meets the third Tuesday of the month, and all interested parties are welcome to attend. In April the group will join the county-wide Big Read – the poetry of Emily Dickinson – with special programs at the library. Copies of “The Fever Tree” and Dickinson’s poetry are available at the library and Off the Beaten Path Bookstore in Lakewood. Lakewood Memorial Library is located at 12 W. Eating Healthy Group To Meet

The next meeting of the YMCA’s Healthy Eating Support Group will be held on Thursday from 7:05-8 p.m. at the Jamestown YMCA. March is National Nutrition Month. This year’s topic, “Enjoy the Taste of Eating Right,” will be discussed. Participants will learn how to combine good taste with good nutrition to create healthy meals that follow the US Dietary Guidelines. Time for questions and answers will follow. Future meeting dates and topics will be decided upon with participant input. The March meeting is free for YMCA members and just $3 for nonmembers. Registration is required by Wednesday. Panama Board To Meet Monday

PANAMA – The Panama Central School Board of Education will hold its scheduled board meeting on Monday at 7 p.m. in the boardroom. This meeting is open to the public.
