Bethel Baptist To Host Annual Dinner, Auction Fundraiser
The Bethel Baptist Christian Academy will be introducing a new element to its most popular annual fundraiser.
A live auction, featuring more than 40 baskets worth of donated items, will be held in conjunction with a full homemade lasagna dinner fundraiser Friday evening.
The fundraiser will begin with the lasagna dinner – complete with salad, bread, drinks and homemade desserts – at 5 p.m. According to Kelly Vik, first-grade teacher and fundraising committee coordinator, the fundraiser has been one of Bethel Baptist’s more successful annual events for more than five years.
“Of all the fundraisers we do throughout the years, usually this is the best one in terms of bringing in money to help the school out,” Vik said. “We have so many wonderful bakers in the school, and we take full advantage of any time we can have them bring in their baked goods.”
As a private school, Vik said Bethel Baptist is constantly looking for additional and unique ways to raise money for its day-to-day operations. It was for this purpose that the school will be holding a live auction for the baskets in conjunction with the lasagna dinner. She said the auction will begin at approximately 6:15 p.m., following the dinner.
“We needed to change things up a little bit to make sure we get the funding needed to keep things going successfully,” she said. “We already have more than 40 baskets, and they’re each decent-sized with high quality items. We have a lot of businesses in the area that have been so supportive and generous in donating things and helping us out with this event.”
Vik said the baskets will be on display throughout the dinner prior to the auction, and photos will be posted to the school’s website and Facebook page in advance of the event in order to give people an idea of what will be available.
The fundraiser will be held at the Bethel Baptist Christian Academy building at 200 Hunt Rd. Attendees will want to enter through the back entrance. Presale tickets are $8 for adults, and $6 for children ages 5-12. Tickets for a family of five or more are $35.
All proceeds will go toward scholarships for students with families in need, academic enrichment materials and activities and other needs for the school.
