Book Sale

Begins Today

The Fluvanna Free Library will hold a book sale today and Thursday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Many hardcover adult fiction and nonfiction books are available for $1. Adult paperbacks will be three for $1 and children’s books are 25 cents each. The library will also sell puzzles, magazines and DVDs. A drawing will be held for an Aran knit afghan with chances available for $1 each or $5 for six. The drawing will be held Friday at the library. Winner does not have to be present.

Transition Night Set For Thursday

Jamestown High School will hold a Curriculum Showcase/Transition Night for eighth-grade students and parents on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the JHS auditorium. JHS Principal Mike McElrath will provide an overview of graduation requirements and ninth-grade course selections. JHS Academies Teachers will present curriculum information to parents and students in the gymnasium and tours of the building will be offered. Call JHS at 483-3470 for more information.

Soup And Song Set For Saturday

St. Susan Center, 31 Water St., Jamestown, will hold Soup and a Song on Saturday from 6-9 p.m.. Featured will be two hearty soups, bread, dessert and a beverage and music by The Red Letter Blues Band with Sue Waite and Matt Homan and the Blue Grass Disciples. Admission is $10 per person and will benefit the St. Susan Center Soup Kitchen.

Story Hour

Set For Friday

BROCTON – Preschool story hour with Mrs. Westin and Mrs. Raymond will be held on Friday in the Ahira Hall Memorial Library, Brocton at 10 a.m. The theme is ”It’s Raining Cats and Dogs!” For more information, call 792-9418.

Lasagna Dinner Set For Saturday

The Dewittville-Hartfield Church, 430 Meadows Road, Dewittville, will hold a lasagna dinner on Saturday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. Included is a salad, bread, dessert and beverage. The cost is a donation of $7.50.

GOP To Host St. Patrick’s Breakfast

The Town of Busti Republican Committee will host their Annual St. Patrick’s Day Breakfast on Saturday from 8:30-11 a.m., at Alfie’s Restaurant, 986 Fairmount Ave., West Ellicott. The breakfast consists of pancakes, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee, for $5 for adults and $3 for children. Tickets can be purchased at the door the day of the breakfast or in advance from any Town of Busti Republican Committee person. Attendees can speak with the candidates, participate in discussions concerning the upcoming elections and let their opinions be known.

Randolph Legion Plans Birthday

RANDOLPH – The Randolph American Legion’s 95th birthday party will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. The legion is located at 62 Jamestown St., Randolph.

Holy Apostles To Hold Service

The Holy Apostles Parish choir, organist, and Festival Handbell Choir will present Irish music at the 11 a.m. service Sunday at Ss. Peter & Paul Church, Cherry Street, Jamestown.
