Daniel H. Johnson
Daniel H. Johnson, 66, of Buffalo Street Ext, Jamestown, N.Y.. died peacefully Sunday, March 9, 2014, of Alzheimer’s disease, at home with his family.
He was born June 13, 1948, the son of Harold W. and Marion Anderson Johnson.
Dan had many lifelong friends, was a faithful son and brother, and affectionately called “Uncle Danny” by many.
Dan is survived by his father, Harold W. Johnson; sisters: Carol and Wayne Bieganousky of Waxhaw, N.C., and Lois and Ryan Bentley, of a Frewsburg, N.Y. Lois and Ryan made their home with Dan and Harold for the past three years; nieces and nephew: Lori and Kelly Gloss, Suzan and Paul Cardinale, and Jonathan and Kimberly Blanchard, all of Frewsburg, N.Y., Sarah and Chad Paynter of Lexington, S.C., and Kristine and Joshua Beardsley of Fort Mill, S.C.; great-nieces and nephews: Cathy and Ryan Sadowski, Benjamin Leichner, Phillip Gloss, Alanna, Josiah and Kaitlyn Blanchard, all of Frewsburg, N.Y., Stephen Gloss of Hattiesburg, Miss., Caleb Leichner of Whiteman AFB, Missouri. Meredith and Lauren Paynter of Lexington, S.C., and Jeremiah and Jillian Beardsley of Fort Mill, S.C.; and great-great nieces: Luna and Piper Sadowski of Frewsburg, N.Y.
Dan was predeceased by his mother, Marion Johnson; and brother-in-law, Jerre VanRensselaer.
Dan was a graduate of Falconer High School and also a graduate of Indiana Institute of Technology with a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering. During his college years, he was a member of Tau Kap-pa Epsilon Fraternity. He worked with Ahlstrom Schaeffer Electric Corporation and Cummins Engine Inc. Upon graduation, Dan joined his father as companion and business partner in J and J Sales and later established Busti Auto Sales.
Dan was free in his relationship with Jesus and openly shared his faith. He traveled to Israel twice and had a dream to return. Dan was generous and faithfully encouraged many. He had many hobbies including photography, flying airplanes, wildlife, cars and motorcycles. In 1973, he made a solo cross-country trip on his motorcycle. In recent years enjoyed riding with friends, rollerskating and dancing.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg. Burial will be in Allen Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m. today in the funeral home.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the Hospice staff and several caretakers who loved him. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association of WNY.
