Mina Fire Ruled Accidental
MINA – The fire that destroyed Jack’s Repair Shop at 9994 Bailey Hill Road was ruled an accident by the Chautauqua County Fire Investigation Team.
On Saturday at 4 p.m., a fire started inside a hot water tank located inside the repair shop, before spreading throughout the entire building. The auto repair shop was a total loss, including several vehicles inside. Nobody was inside during the time of the fire.
Randy Hamilton, Findley Lake Fire Department assistant chief, said crews were battling the fire for about five hours and county fire investigators remained at the scene into the night.
“The tin on the building was hampering the fight a little bit,” Hamilton said.
Although the business as a complete loss, a nearby home was not damaged by the fire.
Findley Lake was assisted by crews from Clymer, Sherman, Ashville and Ellery Center in New York, as well as North East, Greenfield Township and Wattsburg in Pennsylvania. Panama remained on stand-by.
