Onalee S. (Morey) Yannie, 86, of Jamestown, N.Y. passed away on Wednesday, March 5, 2014, surrounded by family and friends at Heritage Green Nursing Facility.
Onalee was born in Coudersport, Pa., on March 9, 1927, the daughter of Clive and Glayds Morey. She married John Yannie on Oct. 26, 1946.
Onalee was known as a hard worker whether secular or at home. She loved to crochet and watch cooking shows. She also enjoyed entertaining friends and family for meals and baking. She enjoyed her rides to the Amish Country.
Onalee was associated with the South Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses and spent many years volunteering preaching and sharing good news from the Bible.
She is survived by her daughters, Melanie Yannie of Jamestown, with whom she had made her home before entering Heritage Green; Shirley (Mike) Mattern of Jamestown. (Onalee also has a son). Onalee has four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by a brother, Phillip (Minnie) Morey of Roulette, Pa., and a sister, Beverly Trazillo of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John Yannie on May 12, 1987; her parents; a brother, Robert Morey; and two sisters: Phyllis Giomento and Thelma Wetsel.
A memorial service will be observed on April 19, at 2 p.m., at the South Jamestown Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses located at 181 Martin Road. Tom Pacos from the Dunkirk Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses will officiate.
