Coland L. Suckow

FREWSBURG – Coland L. Suckow, 84, of 17 E. Meadow Lane, Frewsburg, died Wednesday (Feb. 5, 2014), at WCA Hospital.

He was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Frewsburg, the son of Leo and Rhea Brown Suckow.

He was a U.S. Army veteran, and member of the Falconer RC Club.

Before retiring, he had been employed at the former Art Metal and Reliance Mold and Die.

Coland had attended the Ivory Baptist Church and the Trinity United Methodist Church.

He was a very humble man who loved and enjoyed his family. He was a talented carpenter, having built his own home, as well as having helped others with their building projects. Coland liked to take people on his boat and taught many people to waterski. He also took great pleasure in flying model airplanes.

Coland is survived by his wife, Evelyn Duell Suckow; three children: James Suckow of Frewsburg, Chris (Barbara) Suckow of Kennedy, and Laurel (Steve) Schwartz of Jamestown; three grand-children: Kelly Elder of Greensburg, Pa., Alyssa Schwartz of Jamestown, and Kyle Suckow of Norwich, N.Y.; and a sister, Autumn Eckman of Frewsburg.

Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a grandson, Brian S. Suckow.

The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Ivory Baptist Church, Frewsburg. The Rev. Donald Reese, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Frewsburg.

The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. and 6- 8 p.m. Friday, in the Peterson Funeral Home, Frewsburg.
