Ross Grange Set To Meet March 10

FALCONER – The regular meeting of Ross Grange was held with refreshments furnished by Mary Jane Griffith and Bob Goodwin. County Family Activities Chair Linda Kesby reminded members of the County Pomona meeting in Ripley on March 8.

Needlework and woodworking contest entries should be turned in then. Personal care items will be collected to be given to women’s shelters. Betty Wakefield, lecturer, announced the art and photo contest will also be held in Ripley on March 8. Winners will be sent to State Grange for the April contest.

Elaine Melquist, Community Service chair, thanked those who worked on afghans and read a letter of thanks from The Salvation Anew Center for those donated.

The program told of burn care techniques learned due to a major disaster of an airplane accident at Monroe County Airport in Rochester.

Leona Peterson, Family Activities chair, announced the apple pie contest will be at the March 24 meeting. No mixes and recipe should accompany the entry. Peterson has score sheets available.

The annual Awards Night to be held April 14 was discussed. Suggestions for the Community Citizen Award – not a Grange member – should be given to Wakefield by April 1.

The next meeting, March 10, will be preceded by a work meeting for community service items at 11 a.m. Representatives of four local libraries will attend the 2 p.m. meeting to share what they are doing. Each will receive a donation from the Grange. Opal Sprague and Wakefield will provide refreshments.

Meetings are held at the Falcon’s Nest Banquet Hall in Falconer with visitors welcome.
