Care For Your Back
Dr. Bradley Kulig, chiropractor, has joined Dr. Lynn Pownall and Dr. Tamsin Pope at Brookside Professional Center in order to help patients strive toward a healthy living.
Kulig, a resident of Frewsburg, always knew he wanted to get into the health field. He said he likes helping people who work hard get back to work and do what they like to do.
“I’ve always had an interest in health and wellness,” he said. “I’ve always been into strength training and athletic stuff.”
Graduating from Jamestown Community College and SUNY Geneseo, Kulig went to New York Chiropractic College in Seneca Falls, earning the “adjusting award” – given to one student who displays mastery of chiropractic manipulation – in his graduating class. He was inducted into the Phi Chi Omega Chiropractic Honor Society and earned advanced certification in sport science and human performance. He believes in a progressive, evidence-based approach to chiropractic care and being an integral member of a comprehensive, integrated health care team.
“When good health is your lifestyle, chiropractic care is a regular part of your life, along with daily exercise and a balanced healthy diet,” Kulig said.
Kulig explained chiropractic health care as a health care profession similar to physical therapy in that it focuses on dysfunction of the musculoskeletal and nervous systems, and the effect of these dysfunctions on general health, wellness and athletic performance. The practice itself is a noninvasive, conservative, hands-on approach to health care using physical treatment to correct physical dysfunctions. Doctors are exhaustively trained in the art of manual manipulation of the articular and soft tissues of the musculoskeletal system, and are also trained in therapeutic and rehabilitative exercise, dietary and clinical nutrition and healthy lifestyle counseling.
“We are portal-entry doctors, which means we are like a primary care physician,” he explained. “So, you can come to use right away – if you were to go to a physical therapist, typically you need a referral from a primary care doctor.”
Anybody can go to a chiropractor. Various reasons include athletic performance enhancement, postural discomfort, low back pain, neck and upper back pain, headache, arthritis, nerve pain, disc herniations, numbness and/or tingling in the arms and/or legs, and sports, work and auto injury.
