Marsh, Powers Set More Records
WEBSTER – Matthew Marsh and Jordan Powers set school records again on Saturday at the final day of the New York State Swimming & Diving Championships at Webster Schroeder High School.
Marsh broke his Jamestown record in the 50 freestyle for the second consecutive day with a time of 21:40 while finishing in sixth place, which was the best finish by any sophomore in that event.
Also, Marsh wound up with another personal best of 47.44 to take 14th place in the 100 freestyle.
”Matthew was awesome and I have him for two more years,” said Jamestown coach Nancy Feenstra.
Meanwhile, Powers established a Frewsburg-Southwestern record in the 100 freestyle with a 47:38 for 10th place. He broke the previous record of Seth Johnson.
Powers also finished ahead of Marsh in the 50 freestyle with a 21.30 for fifth place.
Liverpool was the state champion with 143 points, Pittsford was next with 137 and Ithaca finished third with 130.
