Powers, Marsh Set School Records At States

WEBSTER – Senior Jordan Powers of Frewsburg-Southwestern and sophomore Matthew Marsh of Jamestown High School set school records during the preliminaries at the New York State High School Swimming Championships at Webster-Schroder High School on Friday.

Powers came in fifth in the 50 freestyle with a school record of 21:42 and set another mark of 47:36 in the 100 freestyle for 10th place.

Marsh set a new standard in the 50 freestyle with a 21:47 for sixth place, thus, breaking his older brothers Andrew’s record of 21:57 for Jamestown. He also was 14th in the 100 freestyle with a time of 47:44.

Senior Ray Fortney of Panama finished his diving competition in 36th place with 162.30 points for five dives.

Swimming resumes at noon today.
