Mayville Barn Hit By Fire

MAYVILLE – A huge plume of smoke billowed into the night sky Tuesday as fire and emergency officials responded to a raging barn fire in Mayville.

According to firefighters, the barn – located at 7291 Van Ness Road – was already in flames when they arrived shortly after 6 p.m.

Neighbors watched from their doorstep as fire crews hosed down lingering flames, which appeared relegated to the rear of the barn.

The overall extent of the fire damage is currently unknown, fire officials said. No animals were reported injured.

The cause of fire is pending investigation.

Responding fire and emergency officials included the Mayville, Westfield, Sherman, Ashville, Dewittville, Maple Springs, Ellery Center and Chautauqua fire departments.
