FREWSBURG – Nobody likes taxes. From the end of January to the middle of April nearly everyone scrambles to send in their tax returns hoping they won’t owe Uncle Sam any more money. However, compiling all of the information and filling out the Internal Revenue Service forms can be daunting, which is where LE Tax Service comes in.
Located at 25 W. Main St. in Frewsburg, LE Tax Service offers a less expensive alternative for people who need help with taxes.
“I opened (LE Tax Service) because the franchises were charging a lot of money,” said Linda Eckman, owner of LE Tax Service. “I did taxes when I was younger and decided to go back to it.”
Eckman grew up in Russell, Pa., and has lived in Frewsburg for the last 30 years. She received a Bachelor of Science for business administration from SUNY Fredonia. She still also owns a window treatment business that she has been operating for the last 25 years.
In order to remain current with the tax code, Eckman attended the IRS tax forum in Washington, D.C., federal updates in Ohio and the New York tax updates in Elmira. She also took many classes online through the National Association of Tax Professionals.
What she really enjoys about doing taxes is meeting all of the people who come in and helping them out.
“It’s really nice seeing all the local people coming in, and finding out what they do,” Eckman said. Since she owned the building for her window treatment business, she decided it only made sense to utilize the building for her tax service business as well.
Going by the motto “Why pay more?” LE Tax Service offers the area a lower priced income tax preparation service with the same products as the national franchises, Eckman said. It offers both standard payments and no money out of pocket for its services.
