Janice P. Peterson

SINCLAIRVILLE – Janice P. Peterson, 81, of Sinclairville, died Monday, Feb. 17, 2014, at home.

She was born Dec. 22, 1932, in Jamestown, the daughter of the late R. Earl and Margaret Dake Pickard.

She was a 1950 graduate of Mayville Central School and attended business college in Cincinnati.

Jan was employed as a comptometer operator for H.H. Meyer Meat Packing, Cincinnati and then Jamestown Malleable Iron until 1952. She was a bookkeeper for Brazilian International Airlines until 1956 and then the U.S. Army at Fort Belvoir, Va., in payroll and the occupational health department from 1962-72. She then devoted herself as a fulltime homemaker.

Wife of 61 years to David L. Peterson, whom she married July 26, 1952; mother of Philip D. (Patricia) of Greenville, S.C., Stephen J. (Nicolette) of Aurora, Ill., and Dale E. (Joan) Peterson of Denver, N.C.; grandmother of 10; great-grandmother of four; sister of Robert (Lillian) Pickard of Woodbridge, Va., Janet Elderkin of Hazelgreen, Ala., Elizabeth (Vincent) Rothwell of Westfield, and the late Mervin E. Pickard.

Funeral services will be held at the family’s convenience. Arrangements are by the Jordan Funeral Home, Sinclairville.
