Marsh Takes Top Seed; Sets School Record

CLARENCE-Seedings for the Section 6 swimming and diving championships were determined at Clarence High School on thursday with several swimmers from Jamestown earning solid placement.

Matt Marsh had a spectacular night in the 50 freestyle finishing in first place for the top seed for the championships and tying the Jamestown school record of 21.57-which he now holds along with his brother, Andrew.

Marsh also picked up a second seed in the 100 freestyle and is a member of the ninth-seeded 200 medley relay team along with Andrew Caldwell, Matt Caldwell and Alan Smith seeded ninth.

The 400 freestyle relay team of Rishi Gupta, Charlie Simon, Smith and Marsh earned a seventh seed.

Smith will be seeded sixth in the 200 freestyle and fourth in the 500 freestyle.

Matt Caldwell is seeded eighth in the 200 IM and 11th in the 100 butterfly, and Andrew Caldwell is seeded 24th in the 200 IM and 13th in the 100 backstroke.

The championships begin at 5 p.m. today at Clarence.
