Salamanca Wins Div. 1 East Title

SALAMANCA -A balanced attack carried Salamanca to its first boys basketball championship in 12 years on Thursday night.

Jared Fish sank 18 points while Andy Crandall had 17, Damion Taylor 14 and Tyler Siperek 13 as the Warriors (9-1, 13-5) downed Randolph (8-2, 12-6), 68-64, in a showdown for Division 1 East honors.

Taylor’s 3-pointer at the buzzer gave Salamanca a 59-50 lead at the end of three quarters.

Randolph got within one point in the final quarter, but couldn’t take the lead.

Siperek had 11 points in the second half with a trio of 3-pointers for the Warriors. Fish grabbed 15 rebounds and Taylor 10 for Salamanca.

Bryce Morrison hit 18 points while Mitch Maycock had 16 and Mason Bosley 12 points for the Cardinals, who had 13 3-pointers with Morrison, Maycock and Bosley having four apiece.
