Dragons Roll To Win Over SWCS

Southwestern took an early lead, but it was all Maple Grove the rest of the way as the Red Dragons (4-5, 9-8) rolled to a 59-37 victory in West Division 1 boys basketball on Monday.

The Trojans were hitting shots from the field in the first quarter, including three 3-pointers, and held a 15-10 lead, but Maple Grove’s defense came alive and outscored Southwestern, 49-21, over the next three periods.

Cory Wefing made plenty of shots for the Red Dragons, pouring in 24 points, along with five rebounds, five assists and five steals. Graham Soffel added nine points with 12 rebounds and five assists.

For th Trojans, Patrick Moynahan scored nine points in the losing effort.
