Key Notes To Celebrate Anniversary Friday

The Key Notes will celebrate their 18th anniversary on Valentine’s Day. The group performs songs and shares humor three times a month with all local nursing homes, assisted living and day treatment facilities. They also visit individuals at the Heritage Homes. Patricia Moniot, inspired by the late Dorothy Brooks, began playing in the community in 1976. At one time, her father, Joseph Moniot, 92, sang with her. Now she plays the piano for the Key Notes and is accompanied by two singers, Ingrid Grunert, 85, of Jamestown and Anne Worden of Ashville who sings harmony. Grunert also sings with the Viking Chorus and has sung in church choirs in Germany and the United States for 50 years. Recently the group included Donna Ann Rathbun, a guest singer and yodeler who attends Warner Place. Together they perform sing-alongs, old songs, songs from musicals and hymn and also songs in other languages. They have brought cheer and opportunities for the disabled and elderly to sing along with familiar tunes and volunteer freely to entertain those who are looking for some entertainment to brighten up their lives.
