No Frozen Pipes In 58 Years

To the Readers’ Forum:

I read with interest Denny Bonavita’s recent column about living in an old farm house and frozen pipes. I also live in an old farm house, over 100 years old. The first winter here it was frozen pipes under the kitchen sink which called for action. The solution was a large piece of corrugated cardboard behind the pipes to stop any draft. More important when it is really cold, leave the doors open under the sink, especially at night. You do not realize how cold it gets in closed cupboards in these older homes. No more frozen pipes in 58 years.
