Ellicottville Rallies To Edge Pine Valley

SOUTH DAYTON – Spearheaded by Cameron Wilson, Ellicottville rallied in the fourth quarter to record a Division 2 East boys basketball game on Friday night.

Wilson hit eight of his 14 points in the fourth stanza as the Eagles (6-2) put together a 14-7 run in the final period to pull out a 42-40 verdict over Pine Valley (4-4, 5-11), 42-40.

Tanner Gregory, who didn’t play the first time the teams met earlier in the season, delivered 10 of 14 points after intermission and grabbed 11 rebounds. Tom Easton also had 11 rebounds for the Eagles, who beat PV by 11 points in the first meeting.

Phalla Musall, one of Elliottville’s top scorers, was held to four points by Dan Weaver.

Pine Valley came out strong with a 15-4 first quarter margin, but by halftime led by 22-16 and after three quarters by 33-28, But poor foul shooting did in the Panthers as they went just 3-of-11 in the second half and 7-of-19 overall.

Jake Wilcox recorded 10 points and eight rebounds, Bryce Jay 10 rebounds and Russell Hayes six rebounds and four assists in defeat.
