Randolph Overcomes Slow Start In Win Over Portville

RANDOLPH- Portville struggled against great defensive work by Randolph and the result was a 54-42 victory for the Cardinals on Friday night in Division 1 East boys basketball.

The contest was close early on as Randolph (8-1, 11-5) held a 15-10 edge after the first quarter, but the Cardinals broke things open in the second, going on a 17-3 run, for a 32-13 lead by halftime.

Mitchell Maycock was the scoring star for Randolph with 14 points and he completed the double-double with 10 rebounds and Bryce Morrison netted 10 points with eight rebounds and eight assists.

Curtis Kaya led the Panthers with 12 points.

Randolph will meet up with Silver Creek at home today with a scheduled start at 5 p.m.

GOWANDA TOPS C-LV

CATTARAUGUS-The Cattaraugus-Little Valley Timberwolves (4-13) had a rough go against Gowanda (10-8), falling 82-56.

Cattaraugus Little Valley was hampered by a slow first quarter in which they scored 10 points, while Gowanda managed 19.

Chase Williams had a hot night for the Panthers with four buckets from long range for a team-high 26 points. Brennan Geiger also had a big night with 13 points from the floor while Jordan Young chipped in 11.

For the Timberwolves, Justin Forster was high with 21 points and nine assists while Darren Hadley helped to keep the game close with 18 and nine boards.
