Dorothy M. Wilson Gray
Dorothy M. Wilson Gray, 91, of Williamsburg, Va., formerly of Kennedy passed away Friday (Jan. 31, 2014) in the Consulate Health Care Center, Williamsburg, Va.
She was born Nov. 27, 1922, in Lakewood, Ohio, the daughter of the late John L. and Lela Carhart Hunt.
Dorothy was a graduate of Jamestown High School.
For more than 20 years she, along with her first husband, owned and operated Wilson’s Whirl Inn, Kennedy.
Dorothy was one of the founding members for the Town of Poland Recreation Committee and was a 40-year member of the Kennedy United Methodist Church, where she had held various positions within the church. She enjoyed traveling, crafts, cooking and baking. Dorothy was famous for her gingerbread scenes and her decorated eggs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
Surviving are two sons: Raymond A. “Randy” (Vaughn) Wilson II of Jamestown and Timothy R. (Carol) Wilson of Williamsburg, Va.; a daughter, Patsy (Al) Adelgren of Williamsburg, Va.; six grandchildren: Todd Adelgren of Williamsburg, Va., Shannon (Brad) Krater of Altoona, Pa., Heather (Patrick) Karr of Lakewood, Kerry (Angela) Wilson of Kirkwood, N.Y., and Katie Wilson and Meghan Wilson, both of Williamsburg, Va.; and three great-grandchildren: Jared and Adrienne Krater of Altoona and Kyle Karr of Lakewood.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Raymond A. Wilson Sr., whom she married Feb. 16, 1944, and who died Nov. 14, 1980; her second husband, Raymond Gray; two sisters: Una L. Gilligan in 1994 and Gwendolyn Hunt in 1929; and a brother, John Hunt in 1954.
A private funeral service will be held in the Falconer Funeral Home at the convenience of the family. The Rev. Jennifer Delahoy will officiate. Burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.
Visitation will not be observed.
