Mother Faces Leandra’s Law DWI Charge Following Rollover
NORTH HARMONY – A 24-year-old mother was taken into custody Thursday night following an accident in North Harmony.
Maria C. Linamen of Jamestown was charged with aggravated driving while intoxicated after Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies determined she was driving while under the influence with her 1-year-old son in the car, a Leandra’s Law DWI violation. Linamen was also charged with speed not reasonable and prudent, and failure to keep right.
Deputies say Linamen was operating a 2006 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Panama-Stedman Road shortly before 8 p.m. when she crossed over the center of the road, traveled into the ditch and rolled the vehicle onto its side.
Linamen suffered minor injuries to her lower leg and was taken to WCA Hospital for treatment before being taken into custody by deputies. She was arraigned in Sherman Town Court on behalf of North Harmony Town Court.
The child was not injured in the crash and was turned over to relatives.
