Balzer’s Pin Sends Gowanda To Wrestling Win

GOWANDA – It went right down to the final match between host Gowanda and Randolph (3-3) and the Panthers’ Josh Balzer scored a pin over Henry Jacubczak in the 138-pound battle in just 54 seconds to pull out a 42-39 win in Division 2 wrestling Thursday.

Other pins by the Panthers came from Lucas McKeever (152), Chris Hammond (170) and Dalton Mills (182).

For the Cardinals, Chris Doubek won via pin (160), as did Dennis Andrews (194), Jeff Andrews (220), Pat Kibbe (285) and Mickey Mentley (99).

PORTVILLE -Portville picked up its first league win of the season as the Panthers (1-4, 4-10) posted a 39-12 over Frewsburg.

Five of Portville’s wins came by pin, including Brian Therman (113 pounds), Nick Koslowski (120 pounds), Riley Lockwood (132), Robert Wheeler (145 pounds) and Alex Quattrone (170 pounds).

For the Bears, Trevor Spicer pinned Will Hackenberg in the 195-pound match.
