Helen A. Dexter
RANDOLPH – Helen A. Dexter, 93, formerly of 4 Dean St., Randolph, passed away Monday Jan. 27, 2014, in Heritage Village Rehab and Skilled Nursing in Gerry.
Helen was born July 15, 1920, in Urspringen, Ger-many, the daughter of the late Albert and Hulda (Weider) Lieber.
She moved to the United States when she was 7 years old, and later after her marriage and following the birth of her children, Helen enjoyed being a homemaker for her large family. After her children were gone, she worked for Harold Williams at the former Williams Jewelry Store in Randolph.
She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church and their Altar & Rosary Society in Randolph, and was a former member of the Randolph American Legion Unit 181 Auxiliary. She enjoyed bowling and golfing in her younger years.
She is survived by three sons: Thomas Dexter and wife, Norma of Akron, Ohio, Francis (Paula) Dexter of Randolph, and Larry Dexter and wife, Bar-bara of Randolph; two daughters: Linda Ferrucci and husband, Nunzio of Allegany, and Sharon Lerow and husband, Dave of Tega Cay, N.C.; sixteen grandchildren: John Zink of Olean, Jeff Zink and wife, Teresa of Olean, Jim Zink and wife, Niki of Al-legany, Lisa Fries of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Chris Dexter and wife, Amy of Asheville, N.C., Ryan Dexter and wife, Jessica of Providence, R.I., Curtis Dexter and wife, Rena of Austin, Texas, Randy Dexter of Asheville, N.C., Bill Dexter of Akron, Wendy Violette and husband. John of Akron, Thomas Lerow and wife, Emily of Tega Cay, Nick Lerow and wife, Jeannie of Tega Cay, Heather Pecarro of Tega Cay, Cassie Taber and husband, Paul of Lake-wood, N.Y., Amanda Carlson of Salamanca, and Jacquie Dexter of Jamestown, N.Y.; 15 great-grandchildren’ and a great-great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald L. Dexter, whom she married on June 23, 1944, and who preceded her on April 23, 2013; and a sister, Elsie Kronbeck in 1997.
The family will receive friends on Friday (Jan. 31, 2014), from 4-7 p.m. in the VanRensselaer & Son Funeral Home, 14 Church St., Randolph. A rosary service will be conducted on Friday at 3:40 p.m. by the St. Patrick’s Altar & Rosary Society. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at noon Saturday in St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Randolph. The Rev. Joseph Janaczek, will be the celebrant.
